I really don't like the look of it on desktop, but having a mobile site is a BIG plus for watching games and posting in the game threads.

I would have liked the theme to more closely mirror our new site which isn't officially launched yet. So I agree that theme is a bit busy. But the alternatives were worse. It's possible another visual only change could happen but it was a trade off in the end.
