It's usually just a strap, not sure how many have actually been lost.

If it's a broken strap and the goalie shakes it off I'd say no dab. But if it's hit so hard it comes off on its own…that seems dab worthy.

That seems like including a lot of gray area. Maybe just on or off? 

 We don't dab if skaters take it off themselves so that was my point of reference
