Do you see actual bolts like a rain t-storm or just the clouds lighting up?
it's more like sheet lightning, but if you are looking in the right spot you can sometimes see a bolt. It looks very different with the snow in the air, too
With the reflection off the snow on the ground, it lights things up for that flash.

a friend of mine has an exchange student from Spain staying with her right now. He asked her a few days ago if winter was almost over. Poor kid has no idea....
Reminds me of one of my nieces when she was at OttawaU and stayed in residence.
There was an exchange student on her floor, knocks on her door.
Him: "Do you have a rubber I can borrow?"
Niece: "Excuse me?!"
Him: "You know a thing to erase" Makes an erasing motion.
Niece: "Oh you mean an "ERASER".
Lol, wouldn't have been as funny if it was female exchange student.
