I can't do the French part but I can definitely sing **your** anthem, can y'all find a few singers who can get the words right on mine?
Yeah, it was pretty bad. Oh Canada wasn't great either. The tempo was slow on both as well.
I've been to five games so far this year, and my experience is 1/5 for decent anthem signers.
What is so hard about staying on key and on tempo?
I'm just asking for the right WORDS at this point.
But, yes, I'm in the Brian Burke school of thought on anthems: "Sing the damn sheet music and get off the ice."
Me too. Anthem singers now have this attitude of "its about me, not the song, and I'm going to make this last as long as possible."
singers at the CTC routinely start the anthem as 'Oh Caneda!' and I'm like 'how can you mispronounce a name whose three syllables sound exactly the same??'
Lol. I think I'd have to hear those two back to back to appreciate the distinction you're making. It I'm being honest, I probably sound a little "Ca-nuh-duh". I'll be more discerning with my pronunciation in the future!!
