Got my electric bill that covered only HALF of the ice storm…50 kWh average daily usage. In CA would usually have 5-8 kWh daily average; really, really, REALLY high usage months (like running A/C 24/7 because fires prevent opening windows) would be a little over 10 kWh daily.
Needless to say, the heater is off and I'm wearing 3 layers right now.
Ouch! I replaced my furnace in October. Natural gas cost is double what it was at the same time last year.
For October/November I used about 30% of what I did on average the past two years for the same time frame. So far in December I'm at a little under 50% of what I used on average in the same time frame the past two years. My old furnace was about 21 years old and was starting to get worried it was going to fail in a cold snap in February. Looking at the price of natural gas, it'll save me money in the long run.
