Unless he goes out right now, he's probably not gonna feel like it later.

yeah, I'll realize it takes a lot of effort and just forget about it.

I forget, did you get a bad reaction from #1? And am I misremembering or did you supplement #1 with alcohol??

Am I the only one who hears "Kolesar" and immediately goes to an 80s song by Falco?

On a call today with a colleague (employee at the client) who lives in just across the border in Gatineau.

Went to the store this morning to get coffee and thought "Why is the store closed? Oh yeah, it's Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day." Working from home messed up what day it was.

He ended up working it and will take the Civic Holiday in August instead.

For some background Cathy, Ontario and Quebec have slightly different stat holidays. They get June 24th and we get 1st Monday in August. They get Easter Monday, we get Good Friday. (some places of employment get both).

Lol, the Easter split is...odd.

And, accordingly to Wikipedia, SJB Day is celebrated by "...and French Canadians across Canada and the United States." So if I hear any fireworks tonight, I'll know what it is.

Some are there for the game, some for the riot.

Sounds like a tourism slogan: "Come for the game, Stay for the riots!"

Yeah, it's crazy the differences across the provinces.  I didn't realize until I started working at my current place that Boxing Day isn't a stat in Alberta, for instance.

wtf.... someone is setting off fireworks near me

Same for me.  4-5 pops. Today is Quebec's Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, but I'm in Ottawa south, so not near the border. You're definitely not anywhere near the Quebec border.

hmmm, I wonder if there are some Quebecers living near me though.  That might explain it.

Wouldn't that kinda be like me celebrating a holiday that only exists in Arizona?

Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day is a major holiday in Quebec.  For many bigger than Canada Day.  I guess some celebrate even if not at home. But shouldn't they be watching the Habs game?

 Well, it *was* intermission.

 yep, I'd say that counts

Biasly agree.  Is this a case of Cathy "Shoulda had that square"?

I actually have that one! We're mathematically running out of squares I *can't* have.

It was either fireworks...or gun shots...the other night.
