Good news is after a deep dive into the CBA (10.2.a.i.A) it looks like by playing Daccord they do not ruin his exempt status for the 2021 Expansion draft.
By signing him they do burn a a year of his 2 year ELC because he is ineligible for a contract slide (<10 NHL games) due to his age, unlike Brannstrom. However if he plays less than 10 Professional (NHL or AHL games) he does not get credit for a year of professional experience. Therefore the 19-20 and 20-21 seasons will be his only 2 years of professional experience and thus remains exempt.
He can’t play in the AHL playoffs due to not being on an AHL ATO and signed his contract after the AHL clear day.
