The frustrating part is that taken in isolation, the return on a rental with no playoff experience is actually not terrible. Where it becomes terrible is when you consider everything that they gave up just over a year ago to get him.
Everyone said it at the time, we wouldn't be able to accurately judge the Turris/Duchene trade until we knew if we could sign him. Here it is.... and we got slaughtered in that trade.
Me and Russell were against this from the beginning only because of the high price they paid
So who do we want from the Flames in return for Stone?
A first round pick 25th or later and hopefully 2 smallish prospects picked in the 4th and 7th round which Pierre Dorian has meticulously scouted it for years. Also which Calgary has soured on these prospects but Pierre thinks they’re going to be awesome.

Vitaly Abramov Russia 20 year old Winger w 22 points in 52 games for the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL a 3rd round pick. In the Q he was a huge scorer and he’s 5-9 170.
Johnathon Davidsson Sweden 21 Winger 20 points in 35G’s. 5-11 185 in the SweHL League 6th Round pick. The next Mark Stone?
Underwhelming prospects, why even bother when u are picking up guys like this? 3rd and 6th round bleh!
Just listened to the Athletics Columbus Blue Jackets podcast and the 3 writers on there all agreed that Davidsson at one point was a rising prospect but this year all his underlying numbers and actual numbers have dropped and the org. wasn't as high as they were on him. Good scouting by the Sens.
Abramov is flashy but his numbers are also down from where they hoped, Aaron Portzline the main Blue Jacket writer also spoke with a current GM and he said that Columbus made a good trade for a 1st line Center for that #1 pick even if it's just a rental. That same GM wasn't impressed with either prospect that Ottawa rec'd. Yipee!!! Good scouting again. As previously posted Ottawa really doesn't do good with trading top end players
