 I can watch through the laptop if necessary.  It's more of a problem with the craptastic official NHL app for the AppleTV more than anything.

 

I see I've missed the last three minutes after fighting with it.

for those using streams, install Kodi (formally XBMC). Then you can install all kinds of plugins to stream just about anything including live sports.  Just so a Google search on the best Repositories and plugins to install. 

and no popups .. :)
