Chances of making the playoffs

Sens 88.1%, +46.3% after last night

Bruins 51.2%, -51.2% after last night

Sens are in the driver's seat now, keep you foot on the gas pedal

Win and you're in for 98 points.

0-0-1 or 1-0-0 Sens (97 pts) (@PHI [Throw the game if Pitt could be eliminated?])

1-0-0 Bruins (95 pts) (@TB [Tampa's fan appreciation night = must win]), needs Ottawa loss in Reg or 0-0-2 for Pitt (preferable)

1-1-0/0-0-2 for the Pens (96 pts) (NYI [get your crap together], @BUF [can clinch last with loss to CBJ so can play spoiler])

Wings and Isles clinch at 98 points.

Every hockey fan in North America would want to see Sens vs Habs.......except Habs fans.

The season record:

Sat Dec 20th 2014 OTT 1 @ MTL 4
Thu Jan 15th 2015 MTL 1 @ OTT 4
Wed Feb 18th 2015 MTL 2 @ OTT 4
Thu Mar 12th 2015 OTT 5 @ MTL 2

wouldn't it be great if they ended up 7th and faced the Habs again

I can't even imagine.  This is insanity.

The Bruins were shut out last night, for the 3rd time this season by the Capitals.     They got to south Florida at 0330h this morning, are playing tonight at 1930h, and apparently there are several players who are quite sick at the moment.

GO PANTHERS!

So with tonight's Boston loss...

We have Detroit at 97 points, Pittsburgh at 96, and Ottawa and Boston both at 95. All with 2 games remaining. In the Eastern conference, no team with 96 points has ever missed the playoffs. This year could well be the first.

Don't forget the NYIslanders with 98 pts. and they have Pens and BlueJackets left and could lose both in regulation.  Ottawa would pass them too if Ottawa could win both games left.

98 is looking like the need to reach point due to the ROW tie breakers.

So to get to 98 Ottawa would need to finish 4-1-0 or 3-0-2 (WSH, @TOR, PIT, @NYR, @PHI)

For Boston to stop at 97: 2-2-0 or 1-1-2 (TOR, @WSH, @FLA, @TB)

For Detroit to stop at 97: 2-3-0 or 1-2-2 (@MIN, WSH, CAR, @MTL, @CAR)

I'd say given the state of the two teams and the schedules Detroit is the likelier target to hit.

Still doable.

 Now 3-1 for the Sens (@TOR, PIT, @NYR, @PHI), 1-2-0/0-1-2 for the Bruins (@WSH, @FLA, @TB), and 1-3-0/0-2-2 for the Wings (WSH, CAR, @MTL, @CAR).

 So after tonight's debacle:

2-0-1 Sens (PIT (must win in Reg), @NYR, @PHI)

1-2-0/0-1-2 for the Bruins (@WSH, @FLA, @TB)

1-2-0/0-1-2 for the Wings (CAR, @MTL, @CAR)

1-2-0/0-1-2 for the Pens (@OTT, NYI, @BUF)

So after tonight it looks like the Sens need to win out without too many miracles on the out of town scoreboard.

So revised for 99/98 totals:

2-0-0 Sens (95 pts) (@NYR [have already clinched Presidents trophy], @PHI)

1-1-1 for the Bruins (95 pts) (@WSH, @FLA, @TB)

0-1-1 for the Wings (97 pts) (@MTL, @CAR)

1-1-0/0-0-2 for the Pens (96 pts) (NYI, @BUF)

Hey AO, heard last nite that the Islanders are now vulnerable they have the Pens then the hot as hell Blue Jackets who are right now smoking the Yard Waste 5-0.  So if NYI lose both to the Pens and Jackets and the Sens win they can pass these guys too.  This has to be in regulation though.   The Isles lost a game in the most horrific way possible if u ask me after being down 2 goals in the dying minutes they get 2 empty net goals to tie and clinch a playoff spot only to have Halek let in a real softie in the dying seconds. If the Sens did that with the same scenario I'd of had a complete breakdown.

Hockey Gods, remember that Boston has already started to sell playoff tickets

serves the Bruins right that they are losing 3-0 after 2 periods then

I mean really? We can't beat a team that is trying to lose. Not good.

no it's not, plus that whole damned city of Toronto hates that team and wants just about every last one of them out of town before next season.   I heard Friedman talk about the toxic locker room and how guys on the team don't get along even, yet.....
