I don't understand how he cut his leg on a soccer ball, either, TBH.... aren't they round, and well.... not sharp?

Here's the answer; it's as I suspected.

Chris Stevenson @CJ_Stevenson

Borowiecki cut his leg in the pre-game soccer warmup and is replaced in the lineup by Wiercioch. #senators #sabres

Perhaps Andy was hungry, and mistook his leg for a piece of chicken?

I'm guessing it's a pre-game soccer injury.  The kind Champion's League players fake a lot.

Don't they know by now to keep sharp objects away from these players?

1910h update from official Senators Twitter account:

#Sens Mark Borowiecki suffered a laceration to his left leg during activities prior to warm-up and will not play in tonight's game.

Well, it's the Slugs... and as Dean Brown will gladly tell you (or would, if he wasn't at the Spengler Cup right now), these games are almost always decided by 2 goals or less. ;)

Uh oh.   From @clement_eh (at about 1840h, so before the on-ice warmup at 1900h):

Waiting for signatures Borowiecki just got carried in by four players. He's in a lot of pain.

they were warming up in hallway. Couldn't see them then they rushed him into trainer room.

they were carrying him. So probably knee.

I hope this isn't serious, but it might mean that Wiercioch and Phillips play tonight if Boro is hurt.

WHY are the WJC Team Canada games all on at the same time as Sens games??? It's not fair, I tell you!!

It's because Toronto-centric national sports media want something big to have on and don't consider a regional broadcast of an NHL game, ON THEIR OWN NETWORK, to be a big deal to go up against.   It's about getting eyeballs in prime time.

Yeah, I know... but UGH!

Phillips in, Wiercioch out.

Quick facts:

- three game losing streak

- four goals, in total, in their last three games

- PP is 0-for-11 in the past three games
