It may be a lack of imagination on my part but I see NO WAY this ends well for all parties.

Okay, that was a pretty good salvage. I would have preferred a less enthusiastic audience reception to the Hughes bros but the ladies getting a FAR better response *and* the digs was nice.

Was out of it yesterday (hello migraine), just got an ESPN notification...

"People are so negative"

Jack, Quinn Hughes praise US women's hockey team, dress backlash from men's team's reaction to Donald Trump comments

me: oh dear god, what happened?

{pulls up google}

me: ...how can it be worse than I imagined?? disbelief

Sens are more than just my mistress team now, but I think y'all know I have mixed feelings about the juxtaposition of my adopted team and the political leanings of the Tkachuk family.

That said, I hope the Canadian media remind Brady and Auston Matthews that actions have consequences as the SOTU will almost certainly have strong anti-Canadian rhetoric. (****, am I actually going to have to watch the damn thing to be adequately informed?)

no surprise brady is going to the whitehouse but very disappointing sanderson is going.  when trump is finally exposed for what he is ( like he isn't already) they'll have to live with it.

No, no surprise on Brady, the disappointing/naive/delusional surprise is that's it's ****ing ALL of them. Even with the NHL giving them an out (which should probably be viewed skeptically in its own right), the ****ing DOUBLING DOWN is just ... blankstare

just saw this:

BREAKING: At least five US men’s hockey team members have declined Trump’s White House invitation, including Jake Guentzel, Brock Nelson, Jake Oettinger, Kyle Connor, and Jackson Lacombe.

I'm actually surprised the NHL isn't angrier about this.  They pretty much let their players attend the Olympics as free publicity

The first thing the US team does after winning is behave like a bunch of douchebags.  You think the NHL wants _that_ kind of publicity!?

considering that most of the owners are billionaires and likely friends with paedolf, i'm thinking they can live with it.

Not nearly enough. blankstare

Also, yeah, there's no way I can watch this. I'll have to read the breakdown later.

That they did.

I think the comparison was really insulting though. USA-CAN with full NHL rosters is **light years** away from USA college amateurs vs Soviet National Team.

yeah, US media trying to make this another miracle on ice. it was always a 50/50 game. both teams were great.

Apparently Nike didn't think it was 50/50. lol

Kudos to Tea USA for the Johnny Hockey tribute and bringing his kids out for the team pic. Classy.

I mean Ottawa’s last player from the playoff win and Alfie’s game winner over Buffalo just a few months before was who?? Can anyone guess it without looking it up, I would guess Phillips no idea what year.
I highly doubt any team in professional sports in North America or Europe has 3 left from 2008

2008 wasn't that long ago....  lol

"Sens Underground, a fan-reaction podcast focused on the Ottawa Senators, was active as early as November 2008. The original team consisted of Russell, Shredder, and Stooli, and they released a reunion episode in April 2015."

Butt. Scratcher.

Not like Canada didn't have their chances. Sooooo many, but they just couldn't bury them. (yes, that's nightmare fuel for McKinnon.) And yeah, that save by Hellebuyck. That was an all-timer. It will be shown on highlights forever.

Congrats, i guess. I'm not unhappy for the US players, but you know who is going to want a medal.
