Coleman has the better contract ($1.8M for next year has major value vs and FA) so he was always going to be worth more on the market. But the gap between Foote/1st and a 3rd is hugely disproportionate to the gap between the players. I’m surprised DeMelo couldn’t get a 2nd.
I’ve been hearing that what Demello wanted was not close to what the Sens wanted to offer. Not confirmed, but if there is no formal offer it might well be because the “talk” beforehand showed they weren’t in the same neighbourhood.
