Stuff that seems insignificant after the Karlsson news but here it is: The 6th Sens

Jim Hughson and Bob McCown talked Melnyk yesterday on Prime Time Sports. Hughson and McCown said both have heard that there are local buyers ready to buy the team if and when Eugene puts it up for sale.
This pretty much nullifies any relocation threat that Melnyk can make. The league will not relocate a team they have gone on record saying is a viable market with new local ownership ready to take the reins.
The biggest stumbling block for any new owner is what the valuation of the team is with the new arena and including the Seattle expansion fee into the purchase price to entice Melnyk to sell now rather than then If I was part of the potential ownership group I would be working with Bettman and the league expressing the concern about Melnyk damaging the value of the franchise by:
1) selling off players to put money in his pocket,
2) alienating and driving away the season ticket base,
3) damaging working relationships with the city,
4) further driving up the debt against the team through loan shark financing.
The pressure is going to have to come from the league, and that's only going to happen if the fans can hit the revenues and create negative press.

its a very interesting thing to happen in a fairly reserved marketplace. I doubt it will have any affect at all on The Euge but if it helps the fans vent, what the hey.
“This has been a disappointing season for our team. Our place in the standings speaks for itself. Trust me, no one is more aware of this — and more frustrated by it — than I am,” Melnyk wrote.
Is it just me or does this sound very Trump-like
Trump makes Eugene look like Einstein. There’s no comparison
