Got my second COVID-19 jab yesterday, and while the side effects weren’t as severe as the first one (which was horrid), last night wasn’t pleasant.   Today hasn’t been great but at least there are signs of improvement.   I’m going to chalk it up to a vigorous immune system.

Evening all. I thought I would stop by to see how things were going. Good to see the Bolts leading.

Evening Kards!  We are currently explaining English pronunciation with a French accent, so you are just in time.  lol

Am I correct in thinking the "Tampa is over the cap" loophole can't be fixed until the next CBA renewal?

There was a net knocked off moorings play earlier.

Dab it if you got it.

Hey, heard a commercial the other day and thought of you...

"Do you own or rent your home? Of course you do."

Probably voiced by Ben Maller of Fox Sports Radio.   Nobody does that smarmy like he does.

Kat. How long did the storm last in your area Monday night. A facebook friend who lives a further south said the storm last about 2 hours.

Yeah, probably a bit over 2 hours.  And then one or two minor storms in follow up.  I'm fairly sure something close to me got hit just after I went to sleep - insanely bright flash and then a BANG that sounded like it was right on top of me

Sounds like a transformer blew. The one on the pole behind our place blew one night. Scared the crap out of me.

I would have thought so, but my neighborhood is new and on underground wiring.   But there is a massive bridge under construction at the end of the street, so I'm guessing it was one of the cranes or something.

Ah, the good old "is it lightning or is it a nuclear strike" that your was-in-shutdown-mode-30-seconds-ago brain tries to figure out. That's always fun.

Are the Habs and Bolts the only teams whose nickname is not simply a shortening of their (English) full name?

Yeah, I'm skewing anglocentric on this observation, please don't send the French mafia after me.

Habs actually has nothing to do with the French shortening either, so you are good!

ummm.... yes, I think they are.  I can't think of any others anyway.

Oh, damn, I've had the French name wrong in my head this whole time.

Les Habitants is actually the full nickname that Habs comes from.... but it's just another weird nickname

Wikipedia says this "Montreal Canadiens, a National Hockey League team, whose nickname is 'Habs', short for 'Les Habitants' Habitants, the early farmers of Quebec."  How early farmers for associated to the hockey team? I don't know.

In French it's pronounced "De Abs" since the H is silent.  Like in "This is Tampa's turd powerplay."

In French you add an H to words. "After a goal, d'air is a faceoff at center hice"

I haven't sounded out a sentence as much as I did on those two lines since the first grade.

I'm French, but don't have the accent.  One of my brother's does though. He lived in Calgary for many years and joked a lot about his pronunciation of words and the whole H thing.  He'd joke "French people put the Accent, on the wrong syllAble in words."

Meant emphasis, but saying accent, makes it sound funnier. lol

weird.  My manager grew up in Quebec, lived in Calgary for awhile, and now lives in Ottawa.  He basically has no accent except the way he pronounces his h's
