As a proud resident of Ottawa and a former NHL player it pains me to see the plans for a downtown arena fail. This owner is crippling the Sens and the hope of their fan base. This stubborn man needs to go.
Worst experience in my 13 year professional career

I doubt Eug will advance his. That would probably expose Capital Sports books in the discovery stage and that would let the cat out of the bag on how he cooks them to make his claims of the market is too poor to support the team.

I would encourage people not to look at the LeBreton deal falling apart as the final straw but look at that as opportunity in the context of the rebuild.
What is Steve Yzerman up to these days? Would love to see him come in and take over running the team. But I know Meldink would never hire someone who wouldn't put up with his crap. And I'm sure Yzerman would never agree to work for someone like Meldink. But it is a nice dream.
Is Yzerman from the Ottawa area?
yep

General thought is he will eventually take over Detroit. Wants to be home with his family.

Was just thinking while watching Vegas that Vegas fans probably have no idea how good a player they just got. I’m sure ottawa was not on any of their radars.
exactly, just saw on Twitter he had 12 pts in 9 games and the guy was +14 on the worst team. Thats an amazing stat

I think Stone wanted to stay in Ottawa. By signing a one year extension, he was giving management a sort of “bridge contract.” They had one year to right the ship and come up with a plan to put a contender on the ice. And they blew it.
Stone was my favourite Sens player and I hate to see him go but I understand why he did. He’s entering the peak years of his career and he wants the opportunity to play for a contender. I probably would have done the same.
I will be throwing my support behind the Jets for the playoffs and I’m not sure what to do about the Sens now. I’ve been a fan ever since the “bad ol’ days” of guys like Troy Mallette, Denis Vial, and Craig Billington.
I’ve invested a lot of time and emotion in this team. What to do now? Just walk away or hope things can change somehow? My angels and my demons at war.
i might just put my love of local hockey on hold, much like when the Rough Riders vanished. Go into hockey hibernation until euge rots out this new liver and dies.
Sad as that sounds I agree w you, I’ve got other teams I support and those teams actually try to win hockey games. Go figure!!

From hockeyfeed.com:
Stone couldn’t help himself from taking a parting shot at notorious Sens owner Eugene Melnyk.
When asked what excites him most about heading to Vegas, Stone replied, “ownership’s commitment to winning.” Ouch… might want to apply a salve to that burn there, Mr. Melnyk.

I truly believe now they want us all to just move on to other squads, this guy must think he’s working for the nut case exalted ruler of NorthKorea. Is he really this tone deaf
Sens Chirp on Twitter who is someone a lot of Sens fans have followed for a long time says “Are these real quotes? Why is this still happening?” to this ridiculous quote by Dorian
