Columbus trades Horton to Leafs for Clarkson straight up because they didn't insure Horton's contract.
That's some downright shady cap circumvention there.
Alright new plan.
We are now rooting for Clarkson to be a perennial 30G scorer.

I have to give credit where it's due: that's a pretty amazing move by Nonis to pull that one off. They're going to be spending them money anyway, but this way they get rid of a player they don't want, will pay another to sit and be quiet, and put a 3rd player on the ice in the hope that he's part of the rebuild.
Impressive. Most impressive.
And Nonis will still probably be fired at some point this year.

Montreal trades Jiri Sekac to Anaheim for Devante Smith-Pelley.
Must be they got tired of getting beat up by Ottawa. Problem is that they don't seem to realize that trading away one of their skilled pieces because Therrien doesn't like him for a top 9-grinder probably won't help in the long run.

Question for everyone:
If Chiarelli is fired in Boston does anyone on here want him back in Ottawa as GM to succeed GMBM?
Better him than Shero. I'd be a little hesitant based on the cap mess he's created in Boston, but I wonder how much of that is pressure from the Jacobs family to keep the band together for consistent cup runs.

it was 4-2 with 1:30 left? I had forgotten that nugget and I watched that game
Not even in this league or even the same sport, but still interesting
what happens when two teams try to tank in the same game

Mike Sillinger? I think I traded him in NHL '97
In order: EDM, PHI, ARI, OTT, NYI, OTT, EDM, PIT.
Not quite Mike Sillinger-like, but a lot air miles from changing teams.
And was with Phoenix as well, no?
