Words do not exist for me to describe just how silly I feel asking these things. Thankfully everyone (in both my digital and real life) has been understanding. Entertained, sometimes profusely so, but understanding.

I mean I was worried about a power outage during the ice storm. My 4-decades of living in SoCal brain tells me to worry about the food in the fridge going bad. Nah, I could have just put everything out on the patio and it would have been good for days.

 I think I'd be slightly paranoid about racoons taking the food on the patio.

I do have to have the conversation about outside food storage with my mom at Easter once in a while (e.g. it's 11C, no you can't keep stuff outside anymore!)

May I ask another "Cathy doesn't understand Winter" question?

My kitchen cabinets are on exterior walls. When I get a coffee mug out, it's cold, like straight out of the fridge cold. Do I need to worry about pouring water straight from the kettle?

I've been running hot tap water through the mug first. These are proper mugs, stoneware.

They're also on the bottom shelf of the bottom cabinet right now, so 4" off the ground. It doesn't feeling especially cold in the kitchen or cabinet, just the mugs.

 I don't think you need to worry about the mugs breaking. I've poured hot coffee into cold mugs without any mishaps.

 Thanks. I had one break at work a long time ago but it was a decorative glass thing not really a proper mug (and it wasn't mine, just in the community cabinet, so I didn't really care). But I *do* care about the stoneware mugs.
