Best bet: hope for one of the last arbitration dates and continue to try and re-sign him until then.
Check.
Confirmed for the last possible day, August 4th.

It is a good way to further the rivalry with TML, having the AHL teams so close together, and expand Sens presence closer to the big dirty city. PUddleduck will be pleased to have a Sens team closer to home.

Just got home, yup on pager this week and something came up just as I was getting ready to leave.
So this is good news to come home to after a 14 hour day.
yuck... I'm on for 2 weeks starting on monday, not looking forward to it.
Bringing Kelly back is an awesome move. He provides a veteran presence, a good PK (which we desperately need), and he's cheap.

I guess if he can still win draws and kill penalties it's an ok signing. Sens never really were able to replace him although JGP comes close. Says to me Sens don't think anyone in the system is ready step into that role.
he'll help stabilize things and kill penalties. And, a good mentor for the young guys.
certainly a popular move in my house. well, half of it.

Mike Blunden just signed, anybody heard of him?
This is amazing, his little brother Stephen plays in the Australian league for my home town team the Canberra Brave (yes Australia has a national league, and yes Canberra is a real place, it's the capital and has a lot in common with Ottawa). Stephen Blunden has been ripping the Australian league a new one for the last 2 years. Please don't laugh... ok, you can laugh, but he has 72 goals, 88 assists in... 53 games.
strangely, i didn't laugh at this.

Another good comparable for the Hoffman negotiations.
Kyle Palmieri signed 5 yrs @ $4.65M.
Last season 82GP 30G 27A
Hoffman: 78GP 29G 30A
Palmieri is 1 year younger but has 100 more games in NHL.

The Ottawa Senators have agreed to a one-year, two-way deal with forward Matt Puempel.

Take the C away from him.
