Kinda like the fires in LA
That is just unbelievable. What a disaster.
Was watching some of the news reports on U tube about the fire. Scary.
And people looked at me funny when I said one of the reasons I moved was climate change. The only thing really different about these fires is that they're penetrating further into the "woodland urban interface" that most fires. As for "fires in winter", that been normal for the last 5-6 years.
Is the actual city of L A in danger?
What do you consider the "actual city of LA"?
If you're thinking downtown skyline, LAX, Staples Center, etc… no. But the city is 500 sq miles and does border wildland in spots. A lot of the city "names" you hear, like Hollywood, are districts within LA city rather than independent cities themselves.
The big thing is they've always *said* embers can travel up to 5 miles, but they never really have carried into densely populated areas before now. Ember travel is usually only a serious issue for the actual "wildfires" on undeveloped land.
Yeah, was thinking the downtown, highly populated part.
Anything surounded by 5+ miles of concrete, on ALL sides, should be okay. The middle of the concrete jungle will be fine, from the flames at least, the air quality and has fall out is terrible right now. though no worse than other big fires.
Some of the celebrities who have lost their homes: Mandy Moore, Anna Faris, Rainn Wilson, Paris Hilton, Bozoma Saint John, Billy Crystal, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, Cary Elwes, James Woods, Diane Warren, Cameron Mathison, Ricki Lake, Jhené Aiko, record producer Lou Adler, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, Eugene Levy, John Goodman and Anthony Hopkins

Sorry, I ask you guys this every year…is this early, late, or regular for the canal?
I would say slightly early. In the last years before the last two frustrating winters, there was always a week of thaw somewhere in January to delay the start. Usually the target is to open by Interlude (first week of February)
Merci
We had a really cold, and dry, period in mid/late fall so I keep forgetting that we only barely into proper winter.

So…the time people are called by their zip codes in California is in a derogatory sense. I'm assuming that not's the case in Canada? lol
Or does the 613 on his hat mean something else?
That’s our area code for phone numbers. Nothing derogatory about it here.
Damn it, meant area code (even looked up "613 area code") and typed zip code.
No one wants a phone number with the new 343 area code because it's not cool enough:D
