Sens take Zadina and we are all happy about it as he makes the top 6 on the Ottawa squad as the season moves along. EK65 is not traded and agrees to stay with the club. Stone resigns with the club.
That's not unreasonable expectations 4:48 PT on the Friday of NHL draft

without that #1 next year they simply can't afford to do that, you only full rebuild with all your picks especially your own #1. Your not going full rebuild and trying to get the first pick of the 2nd round.
Sens are playing Jenga and the tower is wobbling.
if that's something bad then yeah I agree with this to

If Montreal trades down and Zadina is off the board at 4, you have to send it to Colorado. No Karlsson and Anderson is pretty much a guaranteed bottom finish. Tkachuk is a good prospect, but he is a high floor low ceiling player. Not a top-5 pick in my opinion.
good call, that's what I'd do to. But Dorian sure won't I'd bet

Draft day! Time to see how our organization somehow manages to disappoint us again.

Yeah I feel that even in the cap era it's true. It's for all Canadian teams, except Montreal and Toronto who ruin themselves. Like any Canadian team could put in a serious bid for Tavares and actually get him. Or Trotz...

I'm so sick of seeing the Senators bargaining from a position of weakness and giving up talented players for much less than they're worth. I know that Hoffman had to go but I see a pattern here.
Awesome post Shanghai, agree completely

The Ottawa Senators have traded forwards Mike Hoffman and Cody Donaghey and a fifth-round draft pick in 2020 to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Mikkel Boedker, defenceman Julius Bergman, and a sixth-round draft pick in 2020
Boedker was very disappointing with the Sharks, he came on a bit late in season but overall they weren't happy with him. Magic beans would be better than Boedker in my opinion. Has a player acquired by Ottawa from SJ ever worked out? Michalek maybe?
Sharks just wanted Boedker's salary gone, they want to go big game hunting on Free agent market. Getting a 2nd when all said and done for Boedker I guess is good value for someone you want gone.

Not having that 1st Round pick next season is on top of all the other stupid stuff going on with the Senators is the ultimate F up. I was never on board w Duchene especially paying the extortion price for a guy who is talented but doesn't win or come thru in high leverage (playoff) situations. The Sens finished 30th with him and the Av's finished 31st with him. He's up to this point simply not a winning player. He's talented and all but his teams don't win, or if you blame all his teammates he sure doesn't lift the team or make anyone else better to lift the team.
He’s been to the playoffs twice, his rookie year and the year he played hurt in which the AVs massively overachieved under Roy. He has 6A in 8 games, not exactly a choke artist. A lottery pick that has played on terrible teams? I’m shocked that could happen.
He's played 8 playoff games and they've won 2 of them and he still hasn't scored a goal. Where this pick ends up will be the measuring stick. His teams don't win and his teammates last year in Colorado were more than happy he was gone.

I think they knew that the harassment was occurring since November, and probably that it might be tied to Hoffman’s GF by January. I’m guessing they were hoping it would work itself out because Hoffman was clicking with Duchene which boded well for rebounding next season. It wasn’t until after the trade deadline and the loss of their son that the harassment went super dark and probably fractured the room.
Dorion probably made the better deal with SJ in that he got back a speedy, defensively minded forward at $3M salary which may actually balance out the goals against with Hoffman’s lazy D caused in Guy’s System(?). Bergman (2014 2nd) and Florida’s 2nd are a wash right now and it’s probably better to have a defenseman with some development in hand now rather than 3 years from now.
