I think we can call promise Andy that there will never be a season like the 2017-2018 one. There's really nothing left to explode this season. Even if Karlsson leaves, everyone is expecting it. I guess there's something to be said for everything going wrong, when there really isn't anything else to botch maybe we can start celebrating small victories.
If Anderson signs or doesn't sign really doesn't matter.... the team isn't going to lose 'without him'. They'll lose on their own damn merit, thank you.
Hmmmm wise words Homer. Also what Senior said... last year there were actual expectations. This year there are none.
Come on they signed some guys for Bingo or wherever their minor league team is now, they only have their best 3 players who are unrestricted free agents when this season ends. Dzingel isn't in that top 4 or I would have included him but that's a positive it's not the top 4 players who are UFA's it's only 3. Melnyk promised to be more of a scouting and development team all the while reducing the money he has to pay those pesky scouts and front office people, he's only lost Alfie, the guy who got arrested in Buffalo and BryanMurray and Dorian has shown Eug that he can do all their jobs and save him some money. I don't know about you but I expect great things, just because.
I sense confidence, glass half full...

Last season I think most people thought they could have a good year because of the playoff run the year before. So I was disappointed when everything went to hell. However this year I expect nothing. So when they bomb, well that's what I expected.

While I was sleeping it seems Sens talk is happening all over Twitter and it's not real positive
Greg Brady Twitter
Lots of losing & rebuilding scenarios for CDN NHL teams in 2000s, but no environment as toxic or demoralizing as Ottawa has been, & it didn’t just flare up overnight. The issues w/ the owner, the GM, & some dysfunction in Sens dressing room existed long before 2017 playoff run.

Excluding the familial angle behind hiring Tim Murray, the Senators haven't hired an outsider for their front office in almost 20 years.

There is a sense today that Erik Karlsson trade talks have picked up in the last few days. Most likely destinations appear to be Western Conference. There is also a belief VAN has stepped in to see if it is a match.
(Vancouver fans are going out of their minds over this)

The best deal to be made is at the 15-20 game mark with teams in need of shake up or through injury. No way the Sens are making as many as 3 great trades around the deadline. Doesn’t happen any longer.

There's never been a time when the 3 best players are on expiring deals. Along with the best D man on the planet. Nothing comes close to the draft or deadline talk. Nothing!!!

4.3 is more than fair. Of course the Sens can still walk away from it and Ceci so... you never know. Everything is a gong show.
They will sign him. 4.3 is probably about what the Sens expected to have to pay him. Doesn't mean they won't trade him before next season if they can't agree on a long term deal.

All signed at 1yr. Which means we'll lose them both come July 2019.
Damn the next few years are going to suck.

Sens sign Stone to a 1 year $7.35M contract.
They can only start negotiations for an extension on Jan 1st. If he doesn't sign by July, he's a UFA.
3-2 for who ever they're playing against. Duchene scores into his own net.
Did the arbitrator come up with that number or did they settle it themselves? This is playing with fire not signing your best forward to a long term contract. I'm not happy with this team .

Signed him before the arbitration hearing. From twitter...

#Sens general manager Pierre Dorion on the Mark Stone signing:
“We’re happy to have Mark under contract. Mark is a great leader in every sense; a character person, passionate competitor and a talented two-way player.” … (1/2)
@Media_Sens
#Sens general manager Pierre Dorion on the signing of Mark Stone (2/2) …
“Signing him is the first step in a process that allows us to continue to negotiate a long-term deal in the new year. We look forward to having a long and successful relationship with Mark."
Best thing for this team if for Melnyck to sell it.

An arbitrator has awarded Ottawa Senators defenceman a $4.3 million salary for next season.
I think this is a fair number. But next year he is a free agent.
