ok, he's flying to Edmonton tonight. May start tomorrow. Crazy.

 crazy is right....

Maybe he's only coming back cause Hammond is injured.

probably.

He is.  Apparently they were watching the game last night, and when they knew that Hammond was out and not coming back, his wife told him to call and tell them he was on his way.

 hell of a woman.

So Andy's wife has cancer. That's why he keeps leaving.

They say he will rejoin the team, but I haven't seen anything that says when.

Hammond out at least a week.

Jeez, now that's super tough.  Thoughts and prayers out to him and his family.  It's amazing he was even playing with this on his mind.

Game on the Hill has lots of obstacles

One of the major problems surrounding the hockey on the Hill proposal is the amount of time it would take to set up a temporary arena for 30,000 spectators. Julian wouldn't say how long it is expected to take, but other sources have told the CBC it could be as long as 16 to 18 weeks.

There's a long list of activities that are prohibited, all of which would indicate that an NHL game wouldn't be permitted on the Hill. They include:

  • Organized sporting events.
  • Charging admission fees.
  • Selling alcohol.
  • Selling food.
  • Structures of any kind, props, billboards.
  • Commercial advertising.

However, these rules can be waived. Meanwhile, heritage officials say a decision is expected in a few weeks.

Hill inaccessible for 4-5 months?  That's a big one along with security.  Also lots of other logistics.

Canada day has more spectators than this and it doesn't take them that long to set up.  If they temporarily waive the rules, consult the Bluesfest organizers on alcohol, food, etc.  It's made for TV spectacle, don't think they need 30k to watch.  They could limit it to 15k, charge a premium and set up viewing parties in the market, in front of city hall, at some of the parks, etc. to spread out the rest of the viewers.

Sens have recalled Chris Driedger from Bingo to replace Anderson, who has taken a leave of absence to attend a personal matter at home.  No details provided, but what ever it is, if he needs personal time, I have no issues with that.

Michalek. No. Not worth 4 million anymore. Shame what the laffs did to him.

I Think they hey have just decided to go with puemple, for now. Would like to see lazar get more time in bingo. No rush to bring him back.

Agree, I'd think he needs to be the best player on Bingo before he comes back up to Ottawa.  you'd think he'd get PP time and first line playing time and just become a better scorer and player.

Sounds like Lazar is going to stick in Bingo for now.

Just think what bringing 9MM back would do. He would have to fight BFR for #9. Then, if he wins... BFR would have to fight Wideman to get #6 back... it just gets messy.

Sens waive Phil Varone. Suspect this means Lazar is close to returning.

Milan Michalek waived by lafs. Should Ottawa consider bringing him back?
