There will probably be a bidding war if Julien available. Doubt Sens would be willing to pay what he wants. (I really don't want him anyways). My money would be on Guy Boucher (former Tampa Bay coach). Prefers a more defensive style which Ottawa needs. And could probably be had at cheaper rate.

He's trap though.  That's the only thing that concerns me about him BUT Boucher has coached multiple Sens at different levels including Hoffman, which is great AND STAMKOS

If they do go after an experienced, proven coach and his staff (i.e. Julien, Hitchshlong) they will need to shell out the cash to pay them.  In that case, I'm in favour of letting Chiasson and Wiercioch go for nothing.  They couldn't be traded anyway.

I am completely in favour of the following line up:

Top 6: Ryan, Stone, Hoffman, MacArthur, Turris, Zibanejad

Bottom 6: Pageau, Lazar, Paul, Neil, Smith, Dzingle, Smith, Robinson (13th forward); Puempel in AHL

Defence should be set with EK-Methot, Ceci-Phaneuf, Wideman-Boro; Claesson (7th d); Harpur in AHL; Phillips should retire.

This is a young team coming into its own and needs the experienced hard ass coach that will MAKE THEM play with structure.  The well coached teams always play with amazing structure no matter who the players are.  If they Sens could take a marginal step forward it's a guaranteed playoff team.  If they fully buy into a solid structure they can go far.

I think Karlsson played his worst this year.  I can vividly remember numerous games where his play directly resulted in goals against.  He needs to evaluate at his game play hard this offseason and I hope the new coach makes it a point to do so, just like Trottz in Washington with Ovechkin.

I am glad to hear the self-criticism from Zibanejad on his effort and level of play.  Better later than never.  He is still only 22 and was rushed (mainly because of his pouting) into the NHL.  But it's a good sign that he is growing and maybe will take charge of his line and be more of leader so it won't all fall on the shoulders of Karlsson and Turris and the other leaders on the ice.

Overall: this was a growing year; coach had to go because of silly decisions and lack of results.  I really hope for a healthy line up next year, especially Anderson and MacArthur.  And a productive Bobby Ryan.

I think one of our main problems is our horrendous defense... we blow a lot of leads because we let the other team take 40some shots at Andy and Karlsson gets tired out by mid-way through the 3rd period from doing too much. I'd love to see that aspect of the team improve. I actually hope Mac retires or something, guy's turning his brain to mush from all those concussions...

Who do you think the next head coach will be? I guess we'll have to see as more get fired... but I dunno anyone particularly good that's on the brink. Don't want Julien, god forbid, don't want a Tortorella...

I don't feel it was the defencemen themselves, but the team defence and structure.  Would Condra make this team look different?  Probably.

If St.Louis goes out in first round (good chance) Hitch**** will likely be available.

I love the sensoring on this site.

I'm not the biggest fan of Julien or Hitch****, but they might be the right guy for the job.  As long as you have experience and success, that's what we need.  Mike Yeo would be a disaster - he lost the room last year in Minnesota & just coattailed a hot goalie.  Sound familiar?

Cameron has lost the team and is yet another testament of buying into a hot streak in the hopes on getting a gem on a discount.

Ryan has always had consistency issues on the scoring end, but I think a lot of it was due to Cameron's revolving door of line changes this season and the back half of last. I want them to abduct Zibby and Ryan and force them to live with Gary Roberts for the summer.

In reality though Ryan is getting paid as a mid tier first liner and is producing as a low-end first liner during two bad slumps. People need to stop thinking that this is 2008 in terms of both salary and point production.

Healthy Turris, healthy Mac, stability on the second pair with Phaneuf, and additional development of the young guys is setting up nicely for next season *IF* they get a coach that can actually implement a system.

I'm afraid Cameron is gone. Which is to bad because I like the guy and had high hopes for him. But he has just not been able to implement a system that the players could or would play. Cannot give up forty shots a game and expect to win a lot of games. There is a lot of talent on this team and I believe the right coach and the right system can turn this team into a serious playoff contender in a couple of seasons. Problem is who's available. If they're looking for work it's because they couldn't do the job where they were.

Our goal tending is solid. No problem there. When healthy our top four d-men are good. May want to look at picking an experienced shut down guy for depth. There is plenty of talent up front when healthy. Should be able to put together 3 solid lines. While we score plenty of short handed goals, we give up to many. May want to look at bringing in a couple of penalty kill specialists. The power play is a mess but should be a strong point. They just refused to get away from that passing around the out side looking for that one clear shot. Have to switch it up a bit and crash the net. If you make the other team's pk guys collapse back to the net to help out that would make it easier for the point guys to get shots to the net.

A couple of the guys coming up from Bingo look ready to step in on third or fourth lines.

What's wrong with Ryan? Injury or just not as good as we hoped he'd be. Can Hoffman score for a full season. Can Smith and JGP repeat their success this year? Can Turris and Mac stay healthy and contribute all season?

The Sens are a young team with pretty good talent. With the right coach and a system that tightens things up and helps cut down on scoring chances against, they should make the playoffs next year.

Frustrating. I'm glad Murray is stepping aside, but they needed to go in a whole new direction. This isn't going to change anything.

The Sens are having a news conference at 11am today (Sunday).

Expectation is that Murray will move to a senior advisory role and Dorion will be the new GM.

The season is not over yet, but we all know changes are a coming.  This is the thread for that.

The 1st announced change is.....

Today the Sens announces that they are moving away from Capital Tickets, a Senators Sports & Entertainment entity, and going with TicketMaster next season.

Capital Tickets had ticketing rights for all events at the Canadian Tire Centre, from pop concerts to hockey games.

From Citizen article...

"Capital Tickets also had a contract with the City of Ottawa to provide ticketing services for Centrepointe Theatre and Shenkman Arts Centre, as well as for events at TD Place, including Redblacks and Fury games and concerts.  The change means that Capital Tickets will no longer be a “regional ticketing operator,” said Leeder. The Senators have spoken to its other clients to let them know about the change, he said.

Asked how this will affect the Senators’ revenues, Leeder said this decision was not made lightly.

“We’re comfortable with the financial solution going forward.”

Leeder said the change to Ticketmaster won’t affect pricing or service levels. “It was pretty important in our talks.”

Was Capital Tickets just not making enough money for the trouble of running it?  If only we knew someone who knows a thing or two about finances to explain this to us....
