Vancouver has put Markstrom on waivers, not surprising after they signed Miller and seemed to like Lack for the future role.

So in essence they traded Luongo for Shawn Matthias (ala Greening).

....and now, getting back to hockey.....

The Penguins have a new...err...old...err...throwback...err...retro....oh, screw the marketing-speak: the Penguins are going back to gold.   Could the Senators please, please, PLEASE consider this update to their original sweaters by @Le_Collectif?

The Carolina Reaper...

No I'm not talking about Alexander Semin, but I had to somehow tie this into a thread....

The Carolina Reaper is a hot pepper averaging 1,569,300 on the scoville scale, with peak levels of over 2,200,000.

The Bhut Jolokia ghost pepper that Russell, Shredder and StooLi have experienced is only 1,041,427 on the scoville scale.

anyone want to try it?

Teemu Selanne is complaining of 'diminished role' under Boudreau last season in this article.

The Ducks have a newly signed UFA by the name of.......Dany Heatley.

Where's my popcorn?  This is gonna be good. :)

Ryan is a year younger than Krejci, and I think they are of a similar quality / tier of player even if they don't play the same position.  I'd rather 5 years than 6, but if it takes 6 then I'd not object to that.   I think around $7M is what the money per season will be.

I think Methot will be 4-5 yr at $4.5-5M.

As in 6 yrs also? I'd like him to sign here but I'm more for a 4-5 yr contract personally. Not exactly sure why though.

But hey if 6 yrs is what it takes, what the heck... go for it.

MTL: according to this story, the Habs and PK Subban aren't exactly close in their negotiations ahead of an arbitration hearing set for tomorrow (Friday).   The team is offering $5.25M and Subban's side is asking for $8.5M.    For reference: the bridge contract was  2yr/$2.875M.

C'mon les Canadiens......just give him the 8yr / $10M contract with a full NMC.   Then the rest of us can watch the fun when the fanbase turns on him in a year or two. :)

Actually it was more like.  I can't say that I hate him, "I just dislike him very much."

tj you have to get that on a t-shirt.  LOL

"I'd have to say, at the top of my list right now ... Tomas Plekanec from Montreal, I hate him. Oh, I can't stand him. But, no, I probably shouldn't say that.

"I dislike him very much."

#Plekanecing: v, to embellish a hockey check / fake receiving a head shot in an attempt to draw a penalty

Love it!

Good to see hate running deep between B's & Habs. Brad Marchand on Tomas Plekanec: "I hate him...I can't stand him." csnne.com/boston-bruins/

Glad to see I'm not the only one who hates guys on Montreal.......
